Chirp O’Clock is a learning initiative of the Environment Education & Capacity Building Division of Aaranyak, designed to introduce younger generations to the fascinating world of birds, their behaviour, and the importance of conserving local biodiversity. The programme engages students and nature enthusiasts through guided bird-watching sessions, demonstrations, and discussions led by resource persons from Aaranyak across different districts of Assam through a citizen science approach.
The programme inspires curiosity, enhances observational skills, and encourages a sense of responsibility towards nature. It aims not only to create awareness about local wildlife but also to promote environmental education among young learners, helping them appreciate biodiversity, understand the need for its protection, and become inspired citizens committed to sustainability. Aaranyak, in collaboration with Wipro Earthian, has launched a month-long learning initiative on birdwatching titled ‘Chirp O’Clock’, aimed at inspiring citizen action for sustainability and aligning with the nationwide initiative Young Birders’ Month (YBM) 2025.
The first phase of the Chirp O’Clock initiative was held on 12 November across ecologically significant locations in three districts of Assam to commemorate the 129th birth anniversary of Dr. Salim Ali, the ‘Birdman of India’.

Aaranyak is going to host its seventh event of Chirp O’Clock on 25th November at the Assam State Zoo-cum-Botanical Garden.To participate, click the registration link in the Registration section. Participants should reach the venue 15 minutes before the event. No travel allowance will be provided; only light refreshments will be arranged.
