To celebrate the Birthday (Nov12) of eminent Ornithologist and Bird Watcher, Dr. Salim Ali, SPROUTS is organising a Bird Walk at the Bhandup Pumping, Station on Sunday, November 09, 2025 from 0700 – 1000hrs, as a part of the Young Birder’s Month Initiative of Early Bird. The walk will introduce participants of all ages, to the basics of birdwatching, while sharing stories and anecdotes about Dr. Salim Ali. The mixed landscape is ideal to observe winter migratory and resident grassland and water birds, in the salt marshes, mangroves and scrubland. This walk will be led by eminent Ecologist and CEO of SPROUTS, Anand Pendharkar and will be an easy walk of approximately 3.5-4km. The participants will also be introduced to the diets, ecological roles and behaviours of various birds.

Costs and How to Register:

• Transfer Rs.1000/person (same for children and adults) via GPay no. +91-98201-40254, including Entry Ticket & Expert Guidance. Any other fees (Camera, parking, etc) shall be additionally payable (in cash) directly to the Forest Department by the participant at the Park Entrance;
• Send the payment transfer details with name, gender, and age to Anand Pendharkar at the above mentioned number;
• Registered participants will receive all further details, including meeting location via WhatsApp a day before the event;
• NOTE: The payment is non-refundable, in case participants cancel or don’t attend the walk. You can transfer your participation fee to another person. However, SPROUTS will not be responsible for finding a replacement and/or alternative participant on your behalf.
